Earlier this week a 10-man group spontaneously formed from guild chat and proceeded to take down Sartharion and a drake. They left up Shadron — meaning a 100% buff on all fire damage taken — and totally ignored the portals. The key was, apparently, burning down Sarth’s adds quickly enough before everyone got overwhelmed. They had two tanks, two healers, a replenish class, and probably the best AoE’er in the guild, but it still took them a couple of hours to nail it. The challenge junkies reported back favorably on the difficulty level.

I was surprised with how quickly a group accomplished this feat, and I think the fact that it was thrown together speaks really well to the kickass quality of the players in the guild right now. I wasn’t anticipating us having the gear and the wherewithal to try a drake until the new year, and my understanding is after you get the hang of killing one, killing two is not that much more difficult. On the other hand, I have to admit to being a little jealous at the same time. But I wanna do the cool fights first tooooooo. I’ll survive.

It was our first week in 25-man Naxx, and with one notable exception it was easier than the 10-man version. We brought six healers, which was too many. Over two nights our juggernaut rolled over the Spider and Plague wings and 75% of the Abom wing, one-shotting five of the nine. Thaddius, however, brought us up short. After kind of a rocky start we definitely improved our execution, but without it being perfect there was no way we were going to beat the enrage timer. A couple more weeks of gear and it will be much easier.

I survived three rounds of Heigan DDR! I had to chug a health pot during one of them, but otherwise remained unscathed. This was particularly pleasing to me tonight because I also cemented my reputation as the Frogger Death Queen.

I cannot pass through Frogger without dying. Really. It is to the point where the rest of the raid will rush ahead so they can wait for me on the other side. “The little flip you do before becoming an angel,” a guildie said earlier in the week on Vent, tears of laughter in her voice. “It’s just so awesome.” It’s like I’ve gone insane — I run through what is clearly to me a gap, and to everyone else Crazy Liore is charging directly into a slime again. It was all giving me a serious Beverly Crusher moment, but then Heigan restored my faith in my own ability to not stand in crap.

Priest Stuff! Are you completely unable to dodge slimes no matter how hard you try? Does your guild mock you mercilessly? Levitate and run over the lava on either side of the frogger strip, and never die again!
